Elections Commission Announces Timetable for First General Election

The Elections Commission of the Velocity Interoperability Network today published the timetable of the first general election to the Network Assembly. Polling will take place on Thursday 3 December 2026 between 07:00 and 22:00 at 58 polling stations across the twelve constituencies. Twenty members will be returned: one from each constituency and eight from Network lists.

The notice of election will be published on Friday 16 October 2026. Nominations of constituency candidates and Network lists close at 16:00 on Friday 30 October, and the statement of persons nominated will be published on Monday 2 November. The final date for registering to vote at the election is Friday 13 November. Applications to vote by post close on Wednesday 18 November and applications to vote by proxy on Wednesday 25 November.

Every elector will have two votes: a constituency vote, cast for one candidate, and a Network vote, cast for one list. Constituency members are elected by simple majority. The eight Network seats are allocated in proportion to the Network votes cast for each list, taking account of the constituency seats each list has already won.

Counting begins at the close of poll. Constituency declarations are expected from the early hours of Friday 4 December, the allocation of Network seats will be declared once every constituency result is known, and the full results, including turnout in every constituency, will be published on Monday 7 December 2026.
